Champions for Peace (CfP)

This program seeks to empower community leaders with skills and techniques to create safe spaces and to facilitate constructive inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogues.  Ethnic divides and religious extremism are a threat to the peace and security of Kenya and BPI recognizes the need to foster collective peace efforts and harmonious co-existence. BPI is committed to empowering a network of champions for peace who will be committed to bridging the inter-ethnic and inter-religious divides in our country through dialogues and trust building engagements at every level of the society. 

Objectives

  • Empower community leaders with skills and techniques to create safe spaces and facilitate constructive inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogues.
  • Foster collective peace efforts and harmonious co-existence in Kenya.
  • Build a network of champions for peace who are committed to bridging inter-ethnic and inter-religious divides in Kenya through dialogues and trust building engagements at every level of society.

Strategies

  • Provide training and capacity building for community leaders on conflict resolution, dialogue facilitation, and trust building.
  • Create safe spaces for community members to engage in constructive dialogues and promote mutual understanding and respect.
  • Build a network of champions for peace who can serve as role models and mentors for others in their communities.
  • Develop partnerships with other organizations and institutions to create a broader coalition of actors working towards peace and security in Kenya.

Expected outcomes

  • Increased capacity of community leaders to create safe spaces and facilitate constructive inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogues.
  • Improved understanding, tolerance, and respect for diversity among community members.
  • Reduced levels of violence and extremism in Kenya.
  • Increased community cohesion and collective peace efforts.
  • Creation of a network of champions for peace who can promote inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue and cooperation at every level of society.
